What is Darlington Parent Carer Forum ?
Darlington Parent Carer Forum is:
- Local
- Independent
- A key voice for parents and carers of disabled children.
Darlington Parent Carer Forum is run by parents for parents. Its aim is to bring parents together through regular meetings and events to share information, listen to concerns and feed in our priorities and ideas for making cost effective changes to those restructuring services and providing them long-term.
Darlington Parent Carer Forum was set up as a Parents’ Forum under Aiming High for Disabled Children, an initiative supported by all the main political parties. Aiming High only funds us until March 2011 so we must work hard to obtain financial support for the future.
We can achieve most by working in a constructive partnership with those providing services for our children.
Why Darlington Parent Carer Forum ?
The current climate means:
- Less money
- Fewer services
- Same children
- More needs
When budgets are smaller, cuts to services are inevitable. Given this, it is vital that parents make their voices heard. We must work in partnership with professionals to provide the right service for disabled children and their families.
Darlington Parent Carer Forum is your parents' forum in Darlington. If you live in Darlington and care for a child who needs extra support to lead a full life, why not join Darlington Parent Carer Forum and have your say?
